Very accessible, not too big and not too small. Very clean and the rest rooms too. The immigration personnel were really nice and helpful. No stress at all. Advisable to take your yellow card with you always especially going into other African countries.

The airport is quite clean and easy to navigate. Immigration checks move quickly, and it'd possible to get a visa on arrival for citizens of some countries. Some of the airlines have terrible staff, but that's on them, not the airport. Overall, I enjoyed transiting through here

JKIA is the top international Airport in Kenya. The airport was well organized and its very a safe place since they don't allow entry or exit of illegal products. In terms of time keeping they are the best. I also had a taste of the electric bus at the airport. I really loved the airport❤️💕. I rate it as a 10/10

Recently reopened. There is still some work to do. The staff were friendly. The set ups for tea break was okay but no spoons. Lunch setup and ambience excellent..but hard to get where the plates are for food or dessert. They are hidden underneath or on another table...
Otherwise very neat and tidy and well laid out lunch cuisine with food on actual electric heaters and "permanent" labelling on the cooker surface of the food type as opposed to using papers next to the food. This was novel.

Magnficent Hotel with impressive layout. While having the possibility to see the British style from over 100 ago, you can also feel the modern athmosphere if you are looking for one. Fascinating courtyard with a very nice garden. Not to miss if you will stay in Nairobi.

We stayed at the Fairmont Norfolk at the end of June.  The hotel is old world.  Very nice rooms and hotel property.  I highly suggest booking the seafood night (happens once a month) if you are lucky to be there when it happens.  It was great and very inexpensive and they even had live music.  The bar staff was so friendly.  My neck and back was killing me from the flight so I booked a massage, which was the best I have ever had and booked a second one the next day.  My back felt amazing the rest of the trip?

My husband and I got married in Nairobi and so stayed at this hotel for the duration of the wedding prep and on the wedding night. We stayed here with some family members who had travelled to Kenya to join us for the wedding. The stay was generally good and comfortable, the staff were all friendly and the food was good.
Our room had a plumbing issue on checking in but this was promptly fixed once we informed them.
As we had stayed here for some time, we requested to have something special in the room for our wedding night to make the room feel different and special. Because this was important to us, this is something we would have been happy to pay for as an extra service. We informed the staff quite a few times so they wouldn't forget about it.
Wedding day came and was successful and we were looking forward to retiring to our room with something special after a long day. But lo and behold, we entered the room and there was nothing done. Nothing at all. Not even some flower petals or chocolate. It looked the same as it always had everyday we had been there.
This was very disappointing especially as we had specifically requested it and were assured it would be done. And now it will forever be part of our wedding day memory of the one thing that was disappointing on an otherwise perfect day.

I was also impressed by the cleanliness of the room. It was spotless, and the comfort of the bed made for a restful night's sleep. Plus, the affordable rates make this place a great value for your money.

Four Points by Sheraton Nairobi Airport

I was finishing a month long trip to Tanzania Uganda and Kenya involving climbing Kilimanjaro and a lot of Village education work.   Very tired.

The staff, especially Peter was so accommodating and helpful.  I had great lunches and was able to rest   The gym was clean and well equipped and the pool lovely and peaceful.

My flight home was cancelled and staff came and got me at the airport and let me reopen my room.  I cannot say enough good things about this hotel and especially the staff.    And they know how to make a hamburger and fries to make an American girl happy!

The hotel lobby, pool and restaurants are well maintained but the bedrooms have small issues such as power sockets and lights not working.

The room are clean, the beds are comfy and a iron is provided. The desk has plenty of sockets to power all your devices.

Customer service is not great and staff do not seem to have a good understanding of how to provide a basic level of customer service. Although they are all very polite and say please and thank you but it comes across as inauthentic. This was highlighted during my trip when I wanted to freshen up before my late night flight and they offered a room at $250 instead of offering the changing room at $25 or for free as you would get in other Sheraton hotels.

Overall good hotel, convenient.
Service level is high, and staff are attentive. I would single out our waiter Samuel for his patience with a big group, and attentiveness to our needs. Samuel really contributed in making our dinner night better.

However, what truly sets this hotel apart is its exceptional level of service and the incredible support provided by the General Manager, Natasha Grace.

What truly distinguishes this hotel, though, is the extraordinary level of care and attention to detail exhibited by the staff, led by General Manager Natasha Grace. Unfortunately, I had to cut my stay short due to a personal emergency. In the rush to leave, I accidentally left several valuable items, including a significant amount of cash, in the room's safe. I realize of that hours later.
However, from the moment I reached out to the hotel to report my mistake, Natasha Grace and her team demonstrated unparalleled professionalism and dedication. Natasha personally handled the situation with efficiency and empathy. She immediately coordinated with the housekeeping staff to secure my belongings and ensure their safekeeping. Within a short time, I received a call confirming that my items were secured and ready for retrieval.

In conclusion, this Nairobi hotel offers not only a convenient location but also an exceptional level of service and support that is a cut above the rest.

Stunning park with lots of game drives and wildlife. Seeing all the flamingos at the lake was very interesting. We were even able to see white rhinos close up and even saw the endangered black rhino!

Beautiful excursion experience, saw a couple of animals. We only managed to see buffaloes,  zebra, gazelle, waterbuck....not able to see lions.
The picnic site was beautifully. It was a good experience.

Stayed here for one night, wish it had been longer. Lovely welcome with cold towel and soft drink. Straight to lunch, which was an excellent buffet, salads, soups, hot options available. Large Tusker 450/- (£2.48). We stayed in cottage 1, superb view to the lake from the room and balcony. Truly luxurious bathroom, but it had no door, something we both felt uncomfortable with as it afforded No privacy when using the facilities. I enjoyed a lovely two night stay at Sopa Lodge last September 2023. The best aspect was their very nice massage offerings.  Ms. Halima provided one of the best therapeutic massages I’ve ever received anywhere.  She has been expertly trained and really knows what she is doing. I would return just for that!

Fun drive to get here! Loved the location and the staff were so nice and friendly. Buffet for meals was great, all the food and the outdoor dining area was so nice and had such great views.

My recent stay at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge was amazing. This lodge exudes a unique charm that sets it apart as a standout destination.

First and foremost, the lodge's panoramic views of Lake Nakuru are nothing short of breathtaking. Witnessing the lake's mesmerizing sunsets and sunrises from the comfort of the lodge was a surreal experience.

The culinary experience was good, the only not so good experience is the live cooking as the eggs or pasta (it takes a long line and they are very slow).

The accommodations were exceptional. The rooms were not only tidy but also spacious, well-furnished, and comfortable. I particularly appreciated the meticulous attention to detail, ensuring a restful night's sleep after a day of exploring.

This place might be a bit far away from the game drives and the road is pretty rough but the view you get is worth it ! Compared to the horrible Sopa Lodge in Amboseli, this place offers decent service and food (not great though). Rooms and bathrooms are big and views from the terrace and the (very small) pool are refreshing. It is a decent option if you stay for one night in Nakuru.

The Masai Mara National Reserve, situated in southwestern Kenya, is a vast wilderness famous for its exceptional population of lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, and buffaloes, collectively known as the Big Five. Its rolling grasslands and acacia woodlands support a rich variety of wildlife, making it one of the most celebrated safari destinations in the world. The reserve is perhaps best known for the annual Great Migration, a natural spectacle where millions of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle traverse the plains from the Serengeti in search of fresh grazing. This event, occurring between July and October, is considered one of the greatest wildlife shows on earth, drawing visitors from around the globe.

The Maasai Mara is generally considered safe for tourists. Standard vaccinations for Kenya, including Yellow Fever, Hepatitis A, and Typhoid, are recommended, as well as malaria prophylaxis. Visitors should follow the advice of their guides and respect wildlife distances.

Most visitors travel to the Maasai Mara by road from Nairobi or by scheduled flights to one of the reserve's airstrips, offering a quicker and more scenic entry into the area.

Game drives are the primary mode of wildlife viewing, conducted in 4x4 vehicles. Walking safaris and hot air balloon rides are also popular for experiencing the reserve's landscapes and wildlife from different perspectives.

Under Kenya's current visa policy, most foreign visitors must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) prior to arrival, streamlining the entry process for tourists and encouraging more people to experience the country's natural wonders.

Best Safari experience! A must go when you would like to see African wildlife and especially in Kenya! Even saw several little lion cups and so many other animals in just one day of safari!

You're gonna have fun! Remember to carry with you some snacks and $$ if you are ready to dine in their expensive hotels!
You'll see every other wild animal if you start your safari early in the morning.

Fantastic safari experience with our driver Peter who ensured that we saw the big 5 on our first day. However the following day our car got stuck for 4hours due to the heavy rain the night before. I guess it’s all in the experience. FYI - Pack some snacks and drinks as it’s a long day in the park. Lovely to see the animals up close in their natural habitat. Take repellent, SPF and layered clothing as it’s cold in morning and evening but hot during the day.

The Mara is amazing place however the place is full of tourists. Because of heavy rains most of the small roads were closed so everyone was on the main road. You will see amazing things but you won't be alone

Best safari ever! So many animals, we saw most of the big five here. Such a variety of animals and unique biomes.

Each camp has its nearest airstrip, making air travel convenient. For Lemala Ndutu Tented Camp, the nearest airstrip is Ndutu Airstrip, just a 30-minute drive away. For Lemala Mara Tented Camp, the nearest airstrip is Kogatende Airstrip, only a 25-minute drive away. Guests can arrange flights to these airstrips from major airports in Tanzania, including Kilimanjaro International Airport and Arusha Airport, or from other safari destinations in the region. Transfers from the airstrips to the respective camps are provided by the camp management for added ease.

Both Lemala Mara & Ndutu Tented Camps are accessible by road, but the routes may vary depending on the location of the camps. Guests can arrange road transfers from major cities and towns in Tanzania, such as Arusha, to reach the camps. 

Lemala Mara Camp

Lemala Camp was simply amazing. From the staff to the room to our amazing safari guide Hassan. Highly recommended to ask for him as a guide for the safari. He is very knowledgeable and gives you so many insights about the safari and animals.
The experience overall was a dream and would definitely recommend this camp if you are looking for a luxury camp in Serengeti.

We stayed with this Lemala Camp for 3 nights during our 2 week trip to Africa and it was our favorite part! The ultimate glamping experience with some of the kindest people you will meet!

Highlights:
- FOOD!!!!! Was amazing and flavorful and fresh. We were amazed with what they whipped together in a minimal kitchen tent!
- knowledge of Game Guides / Drivers was outstanding. Bosco and Robert were the best! They worked hard to help us see everything we came for and made us feel so safe the entire time. Also very friendly and kind men! We adored them.
- Service was also great. Our butler Bruno was amazing brining tea and coffee with our early wake up calls every morning. Also turning down our room, refreshing the room while we are out, making sure we had plenty drinking water, hot shower water, etc. In the main hangout area the staff is so kind and attentive making sure your glass is always full and you’re comfortable.

We stayed at Lemala Mara camp for three nights as part of our two week African trip. We were looking for a more rustic setting, rather than the luxury lodges we had been staying in during the rest of our excursion.  This was perfect.  We had our own tent with private bath, well separated from the remaining guest tents and central lounge/dining tent.  At night, several animal sounds were heard.  We left or tent flaps open so we could see the Zebras and Wildebeest feeding out front.  One evening, the wildebeest gathering for a crossing actually parted around our tent!

The meals were excellent and Service was great.  They tried to meet  our every need.  Camp manager Godwin, tent attendant Joel and tour guide Robert were knowledgeable and fun.

So, if you want the feeling of being with the animals while being treated luxuriously, this is a place for you.

Lemala Mara

Mara Intrepids is conveniently located 298 kilometers away, providing a six-hour scenic drive from Nairobi.

The camp's all-weather airstrip, Ol Kiombo, ensures a swift 45-minute flight from Nairobi. Serviced twice daily by both Safarilink and Air Kenya from Wilson Airport.

Mara Intrepids Tented Camp

Some parts of the resort were excellent such as the food and staff.  But not having electricity or hot water during a portion of each day was frustrating to say the least.  (They turn the electricity off during parts of the day and at midnight which also turns off the hot water).  Usually this happens when most of the guests are off on safari but if you stay back on an afternoon you will lose electricity.  The water in the sinks just trickle out and it is difficult, at times, to get enough water to flush toilets.

The property is run down in some areas such as the pool (a lot of spots in the pool) and the cushions in the pool seating were torn at places.

Several of our group also had an ant infestation in their rooms with ants all over their luggage (that was on furniture) which was frustrating.

The staff are top notch and the food and drinks were excellent.  Early morning coffee and tea delivery were wonderful.

The evening lectures were also very informative and worth attending.

The gift shop has a wide array of items that were priced very reasonably.

Reports from guests who used the spa was very favorable.

The location is great and only a few minutes away from the airport.  Wildlife is surrounding the resort and you will frequently see it all around you.

They need to update the property and turn to alternative energy (perhaps solar?) so that the electricity and hot water outages are resolved.

Had tents beautifully situated on the river banks with elephants, hippos, baboons, etc. as neighbours. The service level was really great, as was the location. However, the noise from the airstrip nearby was a daily annoyance.
The tents were noticeably worn and should probably be renovated/renewed soon.

Highly recommended ! Our experience at Mara Intrepids far exceeded our expectations. We can't thank the manager Mr.Gregory enough for ensuring our safety was of the highest priority (we had an issue with our transfer out of Mara, and he promptly arranged for an alternative). The staff was very welcoming and courteous, and took care of every small detail for a comfortable stay. Meals and safari game drive was included in the package. The food was fantastic , with muticourse meals thrice a day, that caters to vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Special appreciation for our guide Mr. Paul who was very friendly, knowledgeable and experienced. He ensured we had an amazing experience with our game drive, and we saw every animal from our checklist.

We had a magical time here. Our guide, Paul, was amazing and the staff was so attentive and professional. The accomodations were impressive for a safari camp. The Mara is brimming with must-see wildlife and as-seen-on-tv locations.

We had the most incredible stay at Mara Intrepids. The camp exceeded all expectations and our room was stunning over looking the river. Huge variety of food and great quality too. We didn’t want for anything during our stay, and the staff were incredible. We would like to say a special thank you to Sakut our safari guide who was hugely knowledgeable and friendly, Kenneth who looked after us throughout food service and always made sure we had everything we needed. Thank you again to everyone who made this trip extra special.

Mara Intrepids Camp

Air Kenya Aviation, Aircraft Leasing Services, and Eagle Aviation provide daily flights to the Mara region, landing at the nearby Ngerende airstrip, which is only 10 minutes from the Club. Note that a standard baggage allowance of 15 kgs, including hand luggage, applies, and airport tax is payable when purchasing your ticket.

While the Mara region is less accessible by private car, professional ground transfers can be arranged. International travelers are recommended to consult with the hotel's knowledgeable reservation specialists for specific information and recommendations.

Fairmont Mara Safari Club

The accommodation itself is pretty nice, but there are some „hidden“ costs, that you need to take into consideration at time of booking. The hotel offers charming tents with nice atmosphere, good food, mostly friendly staff and Joseph was a really great guide.
The only thing, we could complain about is the transfer, that is not included and pretty expensive with 400$ one way from Nairobi and the conservancy fee (90$ per night), that we did not know anything about before, so this came up pretty surprising.
Apart from this, we enjoyed our stay a lot.

My husband and I stayed at the Fairmont Mara Safari Club in July.  The tents are beautiful.  All the amenities of a hotel.  We loved being on the river with the hippos.  The bar staff was so friendly.  Such a great start to our safari.

1000% would recommend this place!

What a week to be alive in the Maasai Mara! We truly enjoyed our 6-night stay at the Fairmont Safari Club and have so many staff members to give shoutouts to for such a wonderful and accommodating experience.

Greeted by Hannah on the first day, we knew we’d be set up for success and thanks to Valentine, Walter, Gerald, Saruni, Mary, the camp medic, Naomi (masseuse with hands of gold), our game driver Mike and junior guide Brandon who spotted the elusive leopard on Day 2 plus all the others!

A long stay at Fairmont gave us the chance to soak it all in and see all the animals we could’ve hoped for. We saw all the Big 5 and especially enjoyed Mike’s knowledge of birds which is something new we hadn’t explored before.

While we were traveling as just adults this trip, we found it inspiring that many parents had their children with them on safari. We hope to be back with our children someday so they too can see all the goodness that Fairmont Mara has to offer.

We stayed in Tent #34 for the week with great views of the Mara River and enjoyed the hippos, baboons, birds and bush buck from the comfort of our tent. We also coordinated a quick stopover at Fairmont Norfolk in Nairobi that they were so helpful to assist with.

If you’re scouting where to stay, I highly recommend Fairmont Mara for a 5-star experience. Thank you for a wonderful time!!
